NUDE IDENTITY: PASSAGES

Feeling that the spaces within which we live influence us, I place
myself within a room to respond to the physical nature of that
space. Closely related to Nude Identity - Masks, this body of work
can be viewed as a continuation or expansion of the themes
previously seen - exploring the gap between our physical character
and our inner residing sense of self.

Exploring a physical space leads me to crawl into fireplaces and
empty bookshelves, push against walls and niches, or frame myself
within windows or doors. Each place is recognizable by it's own
characteristic light and so, responding to this I am positioned
alternately against hard shafts of light or softly spread illumination.
These options allow the body to be sometimes cut into pieces and
obscured, or fully shown in a gentler reading of the character's state.

Whether by the quality of light characteristic to each space, it's
unique architectural elements or both, these images intrigue me
and prompt me to continue exploring the meanings we take from
the places we inhabit.
